Japón Machine Tool Orders

Japan's machine tool orders increased by 11.2% year-on-year to JPY 141,259 million in December 2024, accelerating from a 3% growth in November and surpassing market forecasts of a 3% gain. This marked the third consecutive month of rising machine tool orders, as domestic demand grew by 4.4% to JPY 39,920 million and foreign orders climbed by 14.1% to JPY 101,339 million. On a monthly basis, machine tool orders jumped by 18.4% in December, rebounding from a 2.6% drop in the previous month. In 2024, orders decreased by 0.2%, totaling JPY 1,483,274 million.
