Argentina posted a trade surplus of USD 1.666 billion in December 2024, increasing from the USD 1.018 billion deficit recorded a year earlier and well above the estimated USD 900 million surplus. This marks the thirteenth consecutive month of positive trade balance after nine months of deficits. The surplus was driven by a 33.4% surge in exports to USD 7.035 billion, led by strong sales of agricultural products and raw materials (36.7%), manufactured goods (26.4%), and primary goods (32.6%). Meanwhile, imports rose 26.2% to USD 5.369 billion, reflecting increased shipments of capital goods (84.9%), accessories for capital goods (27.8%), and consumer goods (53.0%).
