Switzerland’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 2.8% in August 2025, up from 2.7% over the previous three months, which had marked the lowest level since November 2024. The reading represents the highest jobless rate since April, as the number of unemployed individuals increased by 3 thousand from the prior month to a five-month high of 132.1 thousand. The youth unemployment rate—covering individuals aged 15 to 24—also climbed to 3.2% from 2.7%, marking the highest level since March 2021. The number of unemployed youth rose by 2.2 thousand to 13.7 thousand. Meanwhile, reported job vacancies fell by 1.9 thousand to 37.9 thousand, the lowest level in eight months. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate remained steady at 2.9%.
