La balanza comercial (BC) se refiere a la diferencia entre el valor monetario de las importaciones y exportaciones de un país durante un período de tiempo determinado. Una balanza comercial positiva indica un superávit comercial, mientras que una balanza comercial negativa indica un déficit comercial. Lithuania’s trade deficit widened slightly to EUR 0.296 billion in January 2025 from EUR 0.242 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year, as imports rose faster than exports. Imports grew by 4% year-on-year to EUR 3.434 billion, driven mainly by increases in imports of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (16%) and organic chemicals (25.6%). The main sources of imports were Poland (12.7%), Saudi Arabia (10.8%), and Germany (10.6%). Meanwhile, exports rose by 2.6% to EUR 3.137 billion, attributed to higher sales of fertilizers (3.1%) and plastics and articles thereof (19.5%). The top export destinations were Latvia (11.5%), Poland (10.1%), and Germany (8.5%).
