The unemployment rate in Georgia dropped to 13.8% in the third quarter of 2024, from 15.6% in the same period last year, as the number of unemployed persons decreased by 26.4 thousand, equaling 225.7 thousand. The jobless rate for men was down to 15.6% (vs 17.7% in Q3 2023), while that for women also fell to 11.5% (vs 12.8%). Meanwhile, the employment rate increased to 47.1% in the September quarter from 45.3% a year ago, with the number of employed persons rising by 41.3 thousand to 1,407.6 thousand. The labor force participation rate rose to 54.7% from 53.6% in the previous year.
