The unemployment rate in Georgia declined to 14.2% in the fourth quarter of 2024, from 15.3% in the same period last year, as the number of unemployed persons decreased by 14.7 thousand, equalling 233.9 thousand. The jobless rate for men was down to 16.7% (vs 16.8% in Q4 2023) while that for women also fell to 11.1% (vs 13.5%). Meanwhile, the employment rate increased to 47.1% in the December quarter from 48.9% a year ago, with the number of employed persons rising by 39.8 thousand to 1,412 thousand. The labor force participation rate rose to 54.9% from 55.5% in the previous year.
