The annual inflation rate in Saudi Arabia stood at 2.0% in February 2025, unchanged from the previous month, surpassing market expectations of 1.9%. Upward price pressures came from housing and utilities (7.1% vs 8.0% in January), food and beverage prices (1.0% vs 0.8%), personal goods & services (3.9% vs 2.3%), restaurants & hotels (0.8% vs 0.8%), and education (0.4% vs 0.6%), while tobacco prices were flat after falling 0.4% in January. Downward price pressures came from clothing and footwear (-1.0% vs -1.5%), furnishing and household equipment (-2.5% vs -2.4%), health (-0.2% vs -0.3%), transport (-1.5% vs -1.9%), communication (-1.8% vs -1.9%), and recreation and culture (-1.1% vs -1.6%). On a monthly basis, the CPI was up 0.2%, matching market estimates, easing slightly from a 0.3% rise in January.
