Industrial production in France dropped 0.9% month-on-month in September 2024, exceeding the expected 0.7% decline and following a downwardly revised 1.1% growth in August. This marks the first fall in industrial activity since May, with output decreasing in manufacturing (-0.8% vs. 1.4% in August), particularly in machinery & equipment goods (-0.9% vs. 1.7%) and other manufacturing (-1.8% vs. 2.4%). Additionally, activity fell in mining & quarrying, energy, water supply, and waste management (-1.2% vs. -0.1%), as well as in construction (-0.3% vs. -0.6%). Year-over-year, industrial output declined 0.6%, while on a quarterly basis, industrial activity was 0.5% higher than in the previous period.
