Poland’s trade balance shifted to a €1.51 billion deficit in January 2025, reversing from a €1.27 billion surplus a year earlier, as exports fell 0.7% to €27.24 billion driven by weak demand from key trading partners and increasing competition from non-European economies within the EU. Lower sales in the transportation sector, particularly delivery vehicles, passenger cars, road tractors, and automotive parts, contributed to the decline, along with a sharp drop in fuel exports. However, agricultural exports rose, supported by higher global food prices. Meanwhile, imports surged 9.9% to €28.74 billion, driven by stronger purchases of consumer goods, agricultural products, and fuel. In contrast, imports of transport equipment declined due to reduced supply of automotive parts.
