Poland’s trade balance shifted to a deficit of EUR 690 million (PLN 2.96 billion) in September 2024, from a surplus of EUR 585 million (PLN 2.63 billion) in the same month last year. Exports declined by 6.5% to EUR 28.03 billion (PLN 119.9 billion), with drops across all six goods categories, particularly in investment goods, transport equipment, and intermediate goods, with significant declines in the automotive sector, especially electric batteries and passenger cars. Imports also fell by 2.1% to EUR 28.72 billion (PLN 122.9 billion), driven by lower value of imported fuels due to their lower prices, alongside decreases in intermediate and investment goods. However, consumer goods imports continued to rise, especially durable items, with further growth in both new and used passenger car imports.
