The Central Bank of Tunisia kept its key interest rate unchanged at 8% on November 28, 2024, the highest level since at least 2006. Inflation continued to stabilize at 6.7% in October, marking the third consecutive month at this level, while core inflation, excluding food and administratively controlled items, eased to 6.4% from 6.7% in the previous month. Tunisia's economic growth showed improvement, reaching 1.8% year-on-year in Q3 2024, up from 1% in the previous quarter. The current account deficit also narrowed to 1.9% of GDP by October, thanks to strong performance in the tourism sector and remittances, despite high energy import costs. Moreover, foreign exchange reserves remained stable at TND 24.8 billion, covering 112 days of imports.
