The unemployment rate in Hungary declined to 4.4% in the three-month period to February 2025, from 4.7% in the corresponding period last year. The number of unemployed individuals decreased by 16 thousand to 214.0 thousand. Of this total, 116.5 thousand were men and 97.5 thousand were women, with an unemployment rate of 4.5% for men and 4.2% for women. The average time spent looking for a job was 12.6 months, with 41.5% of all unemployed individuals having been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while those looking for work for at least a year accounted for 36.9% of the unemployed. Meanwhile, the number of employed persons increased by 2.6 thousand to 4.689 million. Employment among men decreased by 2.1 thousand to 2.488 million, while employment among women increased by 4.7 thousand to 2.202 million.
